Bags can be a real pain, even more so when you have no idea how much of your stuff you can actually fit inside, without running to a physical store and spending hours holding one trying to workout if you can fit a few lenses, tripod and a couple of camera bodies.

I can’t count the amount of endless bags I bought and dis-guarded because the brand or manufacturer hasn’t been completely clear about what you can or can’t get into your bag at the same time. So to save you time I going to supply my top bags and what I can realistically get in them.

I don’t need a crazy amount of glass to shoot with so a 70-200mm, 24-70mm or a wide such as a 15/24mm is enough. I can fit all that AND a 13″ Lenovo Yoga Book in the ThinkTank Retrospective 7.

It’s a shoulder bag which might not be to everyone’s taste but can be worn on the hip for easy access and switching out gear at a moments notice.

You can keep the body on the smaller lenses and hide one under the side of the body. The 70-200mm will need its own section. Shoulder straps can be lengthened to quite a distance which is handy for the taller kinda of person.

Having used this for all kinds of small assignments I’m delighted I can get the trinity of lenses in one bag and a notebook or my Lenovo Yoga Book.

It’s hugely practical, has a great look and premium texture feel to it which turns heads. Whats super cool about this bag is you can easily fit in a DJI Mavic Pro too at the sacrifice of a lens.

Another bag that took me lots of trial and error to find but only by chance trying out a friends roll top bag I discovered it to be super handy for all conditions when travelling.

I can fit loads of stuff inside the storm proof IPX rated miggo Agua Stormproof Backpack 85 which I found at B&H during their sale for around $150. I have the 90l version but that’s been discontinued but the bag is identical in every way.

The bag itself holds a 70-200mm and a body with another 70-200mm sized lens or smaller on the other side in the bottom section which is accessible via a zip flap. It’s not the best solution on a bag of this size but it does keep the camera snug and dry.

Inside the top section is huge, I can fit a full 15″ ultrabook in the back sleeve space which sits directly against your back,  two smaller wide or prime lenses, Lee 150 filters and a few batteries. Plus there is a place for a tripod on the bag too.

The rolling top really makes alot of sense and for all weather applications this bag nails it.

Roller bags come in at crazy prices but if you break them as often as I do you don’t want to shell out knowing that even the best will break apart at some point in its 12 months of abuse lifespan.

Inside the Vanguard ALTA FLY 62T is just a warehouse of space waiting to be filled and at around $250 its a steal.

It’s great knowing I have an arsenal of lenses and kit that are there as backup or to help me be creative with almost limitless configurations.
